The area around Mt. Takago where this zoo is located is a habitat for Japanese monkeys and is designated as a national natural monument. It is also a paradise for monkeys, as it is also the site of the Mt. There are more than 1,000 monkeys in the wild.
The zoo feeds them and keeps them in large cages set up on the slopes of the mountain. The number of them is about 130. It is surprising that this is one herd.
If you buy food for 100 yen at the reception, you can feed them from outside the cage. However, monkeys are ferocious and accustomed to humans, so it is dangerous to provoke them.
